Favorite Song Lyrics

If you've been paying attention over the last two weeks, I've been posting about my favorites. Well, the theme of my favorites continue with music. I am a music lover, much like many of people my age.

To start out, I have to give you a disclaimer. I am a Christian, so I will only be giving music that promotes positive messages and don't have annoying beats.

Also, I can't choose just one genre of music that's my favorite. There are many genre's of music out there, but only a few of them have a place in my heart as my favorite.

To start out, we'll look at Christian music. My favorite song lyric from the Christian genre is Natalie Grants "I Believe". This is one of her songs from her Christmas album Believe.

In a land far away time stood still

Long ago there were shepherds in fields
Or at least this is how the story goes

The story goes woman with child
And a man with no room
Born in a manger for telling it too
This is how the story goes

But it is more than a fable
And it's more than a fairytale
And more than my mind can conceive

I believe the Wise man saw the baby born
The angels called the son of God, Heaven's child, the great I am
Born to take away my sins through nailed pierced hands
Emmanuel has come

I believe two thousand years still the story lives on
God's gift to us sent to earth wrapped in flesh
His only son, His only son

And the heartbeat of heaven
Confounded our wisdom
But it's still the simple truth
That sets me free

I believe the Wise man saw the baby born
That the angels called the son of God, Heaven's child, the great I am
Born to take away my sins through nailed pierced hands
Emmanuel has come

And I believe precious child how can it be
That God's great plan for His story
Would send you to the lonely tree
That you would come for one like me

I believe in a cross, I believe He came for one, he came for all
Heavens child became a plan, gave his life for me
In spite of all I am, I believe, I believe, oh I believe

Christmas lives in me
I believe

The next genre I'm going to share from is Disney. I grew up watching Disney movies and loved all of the music in those movies. Over the years, many of the songs and story lines have helped me through tough times. The one song that has stuck it out with me is from the movie Beauty and the Beast. The song just happens to me titled the same.

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly

Just a little change
Small, to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Oh, oh, oh, oh

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Oh, oh, oh

Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong

Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast

Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast

The third genre is Broadway music. I've developed a love for the theater since I was in middle school and high school. Since then, I've been to several shows. My favorite song is from Wicked. The song is called "For Good".

                                                                   ELPHABA

I'm limited:
Just look at me - I'm limited
And just look at you -
You can do all I couldn't do, Glinda
So now it's up to you
(spoken) For both of us
(sung) Now it's up to you:

GLINDA
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you:

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you:

GLINDA
Because I knew you:

BOTH
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for

GLINDA
But then, I guess we know
There's blame to share

BOTH
And none of it seems to matter anymore

GLINDA ELPHABA
Like a comet pulled Like a ship blown
From orbit as it Off it's mooring
Passes a sun, like By a wind off the
A stream that meets Sea, like a seed
A boulder, half-way Dropped by a
Through the wood Bird in the wood

BOTH
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better?

GLINDA
And because I knew you:
ELPHABA
Because I knew you:

BOTH
Because I knew you:
I have been changed for good.

The fourth is Country. I live in an area of the country where country music is big and it's frowned upon if you don't listen to it at least a few times a week. My favorite song is from Lonestar and it's called "Amazed"

Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away

I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams

I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life

With you by my side
Forever and ever

Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark

Your hair all around me
Baby you surround me
You touch every place in my heart
Oh it feels like the first time every time
I wanna spend the whole night in your arms

I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you

It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life

With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

With that, these are the songs that have shaped my life in one way or another. What song/songs shaped your life?

Three Favorite TV Show Characters

Yesterday, I made a list of TV shows for when I need a pick me up. There's a reason these shows made the list as some of my favorites. The plot lines of each episode, and the over arching plot lines, are defiantly factors, but another reason is the character development throughout the series. Here are three of my favorite characters, the show they're from, and why they're my favorite.
  • Jake Green from Jericho
    • This tv show is from CBS back in 2002-2009. This show is about a small town in rural Kansas right after a nuclear attack on America. A certain group of people within the U.S. are behind the attacks and it causes problems for the people in town with the newest members of the community who moved there just before the attacks happened.
    • The character that is my favorite from this show is Jake Green. Jake is the "main" character and is one of the leaders in the small community. The characters in this show are well created, but Jake is the picture of perfection when compared with the others. His history and broken relationships due to that history make him the perfect hero for any story. Through having to solve his problems from the past, he's able to solve the problems of the times during the show.
    • This show was originally canceled towards the end of the second season due to a small following that didn't warrant the writers and backers of the show to give the show the time it required to adequately wrap up the story line in a more conclusive way that didn't seem rushed.
  • Branch Connally from Longmire
    • Branch has always been my favorite character on this show. He constantly tried to rise above his background of being the son of one of the richest men in Wyoming. He took the job of being a deputy over working with his father. Yes, he is a little brash and in your face about somethings but everyone has flaws, it's what makes us human.
    • Also, he stuck to his guns when no one else believed him about how one case was going, even though that's what caused a whole lot of trouble to happen in his life.
  • Merlin and Arthur from Merlin
    • I know, I know, I originally said I was only going to chose three characters. Picking two from this show goes over that three limit. But, I couldn't in all fairness not pick both characters. If you've seen the show, you already know why I couldn't choose just one or the other.
    • For those of you who haven't seen the show, I'll explain my reasoning here. This show is, of course, about the legends of King Arthur and all those included in the legends with him. What's special about this show is that they tell all of these stories/legends while the two characters mentioned were young men and the ten years after that first meeting. The reason I chose both men is because you can't have one without the other. Their relationship throughout the show is a bromance that everyone can enjoy witnessing. I won't spoil anymore of the show, but I highly recommend this show to anyone who loves fantasy.
